What $1,000 - $1,500 a Month Gets You Across San Francisco

View as Map

Time's are tough out there for a rental seeker, so we thought it best to wade through Craigslist this week so you don't have to. Each day this week, we'll be handpicking select apartments that are up for grabs within a certain price range. Today we're tackling the $1,000 to $1,500 range, which unfortunately doesn't get you much in San Francisco. Every single unit we found was a studio (or a scam), and there weren't that many to choose from. We selected eight apartments that each have at least one highlight that most folks who are on the hunt look for: hardwood flooring, laundry in the building, parking, etc.

350 Turk St
San Francisco, CA 94102

Mosser Towers is located in the heart of the Tenderloin at 350 Turk between Hyde and Leavenworth streets. There are currently several studios available, none of which have parking included. There is also a strict no pet policy. Necessary information: you'll need to get renters insurance within 30 days of moving in.

2. Studio - $1,475

1350 Pine St
San Francisco, CA 94109

#203 at 1350 Pine Street is a very cozy studio in the Tendernob and just steps from Nob Hill. The unit's got hardwood flooring throughout and beautiful Victorian architectural details. There's laundry on the premises. Cats are ok, but dogs are not.

3. Studio - $1,400

531 Belvedere St
San Francisco, CA 94117

531 Belvedere appears to be an inlaw in a house in Cole Valley. The studio has new carpet and fresh paint in its main room, which measures 13' x 13.' Bonus points: there's a fireplace (although it's only decorative).

4. Studio - $1,495

1550 Fillmore Street
San Francisco, CA

This is a top floor unit with utilities included. There's an elevator in the building and laundry facilities on each floor. We're unaware of the square footage but it looks like this particular unit is incredibly tiny.

5. Studio - $1,295

Balboa St & 26th Ave
San Francisco, CA 94121

This is a ground floor studio in the Central Richmond. The unit faces the landscaped backyard. Highlights include two large closet and easy street parking, though garage parking may be available for an additional cost. No pets allowed.

6. Studio - $1,425

3395 Balboa St
San Francisco, CA 94121

This is a remodeled studio (though the pictures don't give us that impression) with hardwood flooring. There is a coin-operated laundry facility in the building. One garage space is included in the rent. No pets. The unit's two blocks from Golden Gate Park.

7. Studo - $1,300

Holloway Ave & Brighton Ave
San Francisco, CA 94112

This is an inlaw unit with its own entrance. The rent includes all of the utilities, including washer/dryer access and Wi-Fi. The catch is that only one person can move in, so tidy couples should seek elsewhere.

8. Studio - $1,000

310 Parnassus Ave
San Francisco, CA 94117

This is a small studio close to Cole Street and UCSF. The floors are carpeted and the walls have fresh paint. There's laundry on the premises. Water and garbage are included in the rent. No pets.
