Midcentury Oakland home hits market for under a million

New, 2 comments

Built in 1959

Located in the tony Piedmont Pines enclave of Oakland, this circa-1959 midcentury, recently refreshed with new paint and a smattering of updated interiors, lands on the market for a mere $759,000. Still a lot, yes, but in these soaring-price-tag times, it’s also a comparative bargain.

Featuring three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,440 square feet, 2690 Carisbrook Drive comes with hardwood flooring, a beamed ceiling, a wood burning fireplace, an outdoor deck, and partial views of the North Bay.

Stubborn purists may wince at some of the newer additions (like the white paint job, which actually looks downright lovely) or the clearly contemporary bathrooms (also a smart upgrade), but it’s just enough necessary revamping to bring this home into the 21st century.

It last sold in 1999 for $325,000.

The listing is through Deidre Joyner of Red Oak Realty.

The fireplace punctuates the living room.
An open floor plan leads to the dining area and kitchen.
One of three bedrooms.
