Up in the tony town of Kenfield sits series of homes on the Gerenbrae Boardwalk, a private community just south of Corte Madera Creek. Here you’ll find no cars and no busy streets—only secluded homes in an exceedingly tranquil setting, like this circa-1980 specimen on the market for $1,295,000.

Featuring three beds, two baths, and 2,153 square feet, 58 Greenbrae Boardwalk sits above a dry marsh land held up by post and pier (the neighborhood was known as a “village on stilts,” per a 1948 San Francisco Chronicle article). To gain access to this quiet home, residents must park in a communal spot and wooden walk a plank walkway measuring 4 feet wide and 3 feet high.

Home No. 58 comes with an oversized circular-shaped great room, a master suite overlooking the wetlands of the Corte Madera Marsh State Marine Park, and views of M. Tamalpais view from nearly every window.

Also of note, this house was built for noted physicist Albert Baez, who also happened to be the father of Joan Baez and Mimi Fariña. This house is also located near the Arks at Larkspur, similar homes just on the other side of the creek. These homes typically house creative types who want to get away from it all.

The house is listed through Blaine Morris and Susan Van Liere of Compass.
