City Hall shut Uber out of the potentially lucrative San Francisco electric scooter market this week.
But at least the ride-hailing company’s two-wheeled game plan will get one break this week, as the Presidio announced that Uber-owned Jump rental bikes will soon be available in the national park.
According to officials, “The Presidio is the first national park in the west to offer electric bike share.” Jump bikes will pop up in the park starting September 7. Users can hop aboard at a rate of $2 per 30 minutes via the app.
The hope is that the addition will create increase accessibility to the nearly 1,200-acre U.S. Army base turned public park.
Of course, there’s also the possibility that the bikes will add to clutter and exacerbate bad behavior on Presidio grounds, which is why the park’s bike rental FAQ includes a few necessary chastisements:
E-bikes must be parked at an official bike rack . There are 125 bike racks in the park. Bicyclists may not leave bicycles on their sides on the sidewalk or park bicycles in a manner which obstructs pedestrian pathways.
[...] E-bikes are considered motorized vehicles, which are not currently allowed on Presidio trails, including paved trails. [...] JUMP Bike’s permit requires that improperly parked e-bikes be removed or reloc ated within four hours.

If you find a Jump bike abandoned in the park, the number to report it is 1-800-300-6106.
The big rollout is set for the morning of September 7, with a free bike tour offered to park guests starting at 9:30 a.m.
Jump bikes first appeared in San Francisco in January, with 250 of the distinctive cycles with their bright red frames and baskets operating on city streets. In April, Uber announced it had purchased Jump in a nine-figure deal.
