If you’ve always wanted to peek inside an Eichler IRL, your wait is over. On Saturday, May 19, Eichler Home Tours sets its sights on Marin—specifically, the Eicher-rich enclaves of Upper Lucas Valley, Lower Lucas Valley/Marinwood, and Terra Linda in San Rafael—for their annual showcase.
The self-guided tours offer midcentury-modern fans the chance to gaze at 12 Eichler specimens, built between 1955 and 1962, including several different models and floor plans. From vaulted ceilings and exposed beams to central atriums and globe lighting, this will be the place to go for fans of this popular Mad Men-era look.
Note: Many of the homes will be renovated—something to keep in mind, purists, who might be triggered by the sight of a painted ceiling. But fret not; we’re told there will be at least one untouched Eichler to see.
Tickets run $75 with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the areas’s public school district.
