It’s snowing in Lake Tahoe—here’s what you’re missing

While the Bay Area prepares itself for another dousing of rain, a crisp blanket of snow has graced Lake Tahoe and it is downright picturesque. From the glacial mountaintops to the piers and docks on the titular lake, this exceedingly wintery look is the perfect way to gear up for the impending holidays.

Additional snow—a rarely seen frozen treat for many Bay Area dwellers—is expected to fall upon Lake Tahoe regions today and Wednesday, with a break beginning Thursday.

If you’re a bunny of the snow variety or a bitchin’ snowboarder, this weekend might make for a good getaway. If you lean more toward après ski and hot cocoa, cute cabins with roaring fireplaces await. But if you really want to splurge, look no further than the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe in Truckee.
