Operated by the Spector family since 1952, Britex Fabrics had to pack up their vivid bolts of fabric and leave Union Square—or so it was reported in 2016. Today the beloved fabric store returns, one block away from its former Geary Street home.

Now located at 117 Post, the new Britex Fabrics outpost officially opened for business Thursday. The roughly 8,000-square-foot space boasts two full floors of clothing fabrics, ribbons, buttons, and furnishing fabrics. They even have a dedicated velvet section!

“We are so thrilled with how the new store has turned out and are ready to embrace our future in the city,” said Britex owner Sharman Spector. “We look forward to helping all our clients rediscover our collection and inspire even.”

As for the famous Britex Fabrics sign, still above its former Geary locale, it will make its way to the new location in the next few weeks.
