While the weather forecast calls for a heatwave to begin on Wednesday, AlertSF, a text-based notification system for residents, upgraded the searing heat for a starting time of today. Which means that San Francisco could see temps soar above the 90-degree mark at any point today. Possibly. Maybe. We shall see.

“SF temps may reach above 90s today,” says AlertSF. “Check on family, friends, neighbors, and pets.”

If you need to escape the brutal heat presumably heading our way, the city has a few cooling centers to bring chilly relief. For starters, libraries and public swimming pools are a safe bet. Otherwise, other spots like malls and theaters are good.

Here’s a helpful map showing you all of the approved cooling centers in San Francisco.
