Billed as the first-ever permitted cannabis party in Golden Gate Park, tens of thousands of people gathered on Hippie Hill in Golden Gate Park today to celebrate April 20—4/20, for short—the calendar day of the year when stoney ilk celebrate marijuana.
And since recreational doobie smoking became legal this year, the annual 4/20 fete on Hippie Hill is also a city-sanctioned one. Instead of it being a low-key day at the park—insofar as 4/20 has even been low-key—there are now a bevy of startups and budding entrepreneurs trying to make a name for themselves.
In addition to vendors vying for coin, there’s also more security, food trucks, and porta-potties this year. Delightful.
