Edward Killingsworth’s midcentury Piedmont home returns asking $1.5 million

The only house the famed architect designed outside of Southern California

Noted for designing six of the famed Case Study Houses commissioned by Arts & Architecture magazine., four of which were actually built, Long Beach architect Edward Killingsworth managed to create one Bay Area home, the Spaulding House in Piedmont.

Last sold in 2011 for $1.2 million, it was made available on Airbnb for a $1,490 per night. It landed on the market in the spring of 2016 for $1.98 million, but returns today with a significant price chop.

Coming in at four beds, two and a half baths, and 2,194 square feet, the Spaulding House features Killingsworth touches like a floating staircase, signature built-in cabinetry (similar to the ones that grace his Case Study homes), a "hidden" wet bar, overlapping box shapes, and windows galore (76 of them, to be exact).

Asking is now $1,595,000.
