Not content with having four locations in San Francisco, giant retailer Target has set its radar on SoMa, specifically at the former Sports Authority space at 1690 Folsom. You know, the store near Division that has the giant red swoop accent? Right there.
“According to documents filed with the city, the retailer has set its sights on the shuttered Sports Authority,” reports Hoodline, adding, “[t]he project has yet to be confirmed.”
No word yet as to whether or not it will be a large store, à la Geary and Metreon, or a drugstore-type Target Express store, e.g., Sansome and Bush. And while some residents will (understandably) scoff at the idea of yet another mega-store opening up in the city, others will be relived to know that a new space to buy cheap pillows and towels could be coming to the area.
In related retail SoMa news, a new Trader Joe’s opens tomorrow at Fourth and Market streets under the flagship Old Navy.
