From this Friday until Sunday, scores tragically hip aural enthusiasts and artisan food sect members will, en mass, head to the annual Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park to hear Lana Del Rey, Beach House, LCD Soundsystem, Radiohead, Duran Duran, J. Cole, Grimes, E-40, and more. And that means your weekend commute in or anywhere near central San Francisco is janked.
UPDATE: There will be several street closures. Per Richmond Blog:
- Polo Field Complex: Monday 7/25 12:01am – Friday 8/12 11:59pm
- Middle Drive Between MLK to Polo Field to Overlook: Monday 7/25 12:01am – Friday 8/12 11:59pm
- McLaren Path: Tuesday 7/26 12:01am – Wednesday 8/10 11:59pm
- Hellman Hollow: Saturday 7/30 7pm – Wednesday 8/10 11:59pm
- Lindley Meadow: Sunday 7/31 12:01am – Tuesday 8/9 11:59pm
- Little Speedway Meadow: Sunday 7/31 12:01am – Thursday 8/11 11:59pm
- Marx Meadow: Sunday 7/31 12:01am – Monday 8/8 11:59pm
Also of note, Park Presidio/19th Avenue, Stanyan, or Great Highway will be the only ways through the park, though it will be nightmare-ish. What's more, it would be wise to stay as far away from Irving and/or Fulton. Those thoroughfare will be clogged.
Obviously, concertgoers are strongly encouraged to take public transit or use a shuttle. Here’s SF MTA’s sage advice:
Muni will provide additional service on the N Rail Line and 5/5R Bus Route for Outside Lands to and from the event. Taxi stands and monitored bicycle parking will be provided.
After the concert, customers are encouraged to take the 5 Fulton Express bus on Fulton. Pick up locations are Fulton & 36th and Fulton & 30th; the buses will express to Civic Center Station (Hyde & Grove).
Due to increased ridership for this event as well as others around the city, concertgoers should allow extra travel time on the N Judah and all bus lines serving Golden Gate Park (7, 7R, 28, 28R, 29, 44). Traffic in the area will also be heavy.
The private Outside Lands shuttle service will run between 11:00 am and midnight each day from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium to the event venue. Please visit the Outside Lands shuttle page for shuttle pricing and schedule information.
The 5 Fulton will expand service before and after the concert, too. Check it:
