Sad news in the world of free print publications. The charming Little Free Library in Duboce Triangle called it quits this week, according to Hoodline, due to instances of robbery and arson.
And just look how nice it was.
Alas.
After a solid two years providing free books to passersby and neighbors, a note, which was subsequently torn up and crumpled, was found near the cute library this week. It reads: "The library was stolen for the second time. After this theft, the arson and the vandalism, it is time to say goodbye. Supporters and champions, thank you. "
The neighbors who maintained it, however, aren’t bitter, describing their brief tenures are mini-library librarians as "uplifting."
Other adorable biblioteques can be found in other equally charming parts of the city, including Bernal Heights and the Mission, just outside of Mission Pie around the corner on 25th Street.
