Ku Klux Klan-Recruiting Flyers Found Circulating In the Haight

New, 5 comments

The Upper Haight is the only neighborhood where these (vile) flyers have been reported

A chilling bit of news today in the Upper Haight, San Francisco’s peace-and-love neighborhood. According to Hoodline, Ku Klux Klan flyers were found on area doorsteps on Tuesday. Among other inaccurate gibberish, the sanity-estranged missive warns about the evils of Black Lives Matter.

Hoodline reports, "So far, flyers have been found around Haight & Clayton and around Oak & Lyon, and appear to have been distributed sometime between 9:30am and 1 or 2pm."

Featuring an image of a Klansman and klan website, the flyers, which at first could be seen as a bit of trolling, seem more worrisome than just a foolish attempt at someone trying to push buttons.

"Black Lives Matter Black Panthers are telling followers to kill white people and police officers in the name of justice for the killing of negro’s by policemen in the line of duty," reads the flyer states. "These negro’s [sic] were not innocent, they were thugs breaking the law, and standing up against police."

The phone number, featuring a North Carolina area code, reaches a voice recording that mentions Bible versus (Leviticus Chapter 19, et al.) and obvious racist overtones.

No word yet as the party/parties responsible for distributing the disturbed flyer.

According to SFGate, officers stationed in the Haight urge "anyone who comes across those types of flyers to give [SFPD] a call."
