Hayes Valley Italianate Victorian Condo Asks $998,000

Classic on the outside, contemporary on the inside

A condo inside this lemony Hayes Valley Italianate Victorian at 159 Octavia lands on the market for under a million. Being in a neighborhood this sought-after, however, it will easily break the six-figure mark, even if it is smack-dab on a chaotic thoroughfare.

The unit inside this turn-of-the-century building (three units in all) features two bedroom, one bath, and a tight 963 square feet. The lower-level condo has been renovated with an open floor plan (a touch too de rigueur these days), as well as updated kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms.

While the condo is certainly an impressive place in one of the city’s most popular/priciest hoods, it’s also located right off the always-active and traffic-ridden Octavia Boulevard.

HOAs come to $350. Asking is $998,000, but expect it to sell for way, way, way over that price. (The condo last sold in 1997 for a mere $219,000.)
