Forest Hill Extension Lot with Big Plans Asks $1.1M

A five-bedroom house could rise from the vines

The property at 127 Edgehill Way in Forest Hill Extension has a lot going for it — but what it's lacking is any kind of shelter. The empty lot hit the market today with a $1.1 million price tag and grand plans for a five-bedroom house.

Anyone who follows the real estate market knows that plans are OK, but permitted plans are better and certainly more valuable. The listing for this property notes that "plans are scheduled to be permitted by close of escrow."

The listing also attempts to frame the property as a big convenience for the buyer. "All the preliminary work is done for you, so there's no need to hassle with soil samples, architectural meetings, or lines at the DBI [Department of Building Inspection]," it promises. Of course, actually building a house is a colossal undertaking, but there's no mention of that.

The house plans show a modern home that cascades down the hillside. It has a large windows and decks to take advantage of the view.

The possibility of buying and building more also exists. The listing for the 3,937-square-foot plot encourages buyers to ask about the two adjacent lots as well.
