Grand Manse in Presidio Heights Takes a Grand Price Cut

The big old home at 3323 Clay Street in Presidio Heights may exude airs of blue blood pedigrees, but so far no buyers—pedigreed or not—have stepped up to buy the place. It first listed last fall for $11 million but left the market without selling. In January, it returned for $11.25 million, but again its hopes were dashed. Late last week, the grand six-bedroom property slashed more than a million dollars off of its price to land at $9.95 million.

The home has a shingled exterior and a well-appointed interior, with a 1000-bottle wine room, an elevator, and designer finishes all around. The staging is rather bland, but surely buyers ready to spend this many millions can see around a few drab couches and mismatched pillows, right? Out back there's a fire pit and a built-in grill, and there's more than 6,500 square feet of space, including a second unit on the lowest level. That said, even the reduced ask is $1,530 per square foot, so maybe this place just had its hopes set too high to begin with.
