Millennium Tower breaks record, nets $13 million for penthouse

Some good news for the plagued tower

Marking the most expensive condominium sale in San Francisco in more than five years, since the $28 million sale of bonkers the St. Regis penthouse, the penthouse inside the Millennium Tower, a lavish pad once owned by noted VC Tom Perkins, sold this month for a cool $13 million.

The 5,500-square-foot home comes with two bedrooms, two and one-half baths, and sunrise-to-sunset views of the city.

While other homeowners have slashed prices on Millennium Tower condos, packed up and delisted entirely, or even sold at a loss in private deals not publicly listed, the allure of the tony high-rise remains untarnished for some buyers.

Purchase by Craig Ramsey of the tech industry, the deal was made off-market by Gregg Lynn of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Fret not those of you fearing a dearth of penthouse lavishness inside one of the city’s most luxe (albeit troubled) towers. Another corner gem remains on the market, this one asking $8 million.
