What Is Super Bowl Traffic in the City Really Going to Be Like?

New, 13 comments

The SFMTA has published some cute little maps showing the city's upcoming street and Muni closures during Super Bowl 50. Closures are confined to a few fairly compact areas downtown, which visually doesn't look so bad at all. However, a Reddit user took it upon him or herself to adjust the map to what reality will probably look like: a layer of complete gridlock as far as the map extends.

Hidden in the SFMTA's fine print is an explanation that the affected area will be closed beyond just Super Bowl week for construction and teardown, along with recommendations that drivers looking to drive north or south across the city head out to Hyde, Gough, or Van Ness. Those streets don't even make the map, but we're pretty sure that they're about to turn pink, too.
