A Forest Hill Extension Home that Knows How to Throw a Party

New, 1 comment

From the outside, the home at 50 Rockwood Court looks almost demure. Don't be fooled, because behind a facade clad in red-brick and gray-siding is a house that's ready to entertain you. The home's website promises "world-class" views, and it doesn't lie.

The first thing you notice are two back decks sited to take in views of rolling hills and Sutro Tower. The agent calls this Forest Hill Extension's "most prestigious cul-de-sac block." With vistas like this, that's probably not an exaggeration. (The living room, kitchen, and master bedroom have large windows that also embrace the outdoor environs.)

The delightful thing about this home is that it has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the scenery and the good life. The decks have high, transparent rails to provide comfortable shelter from the wind while allowing residents to take in scenes of the city's west side. One has an outdoor kitchen and a table for al fresco meals.

The party continues inside where there is a 300 bottle wine cellar with room enough for a tasting table. What's described as a "social room" has a second kitchen with a long, eat-in peninsula that could easily double as a bar.

The facade also belies the square footage of the home, which has 3,590 square feet, five bedrooms, and three bathrooms.

In passing, the listing mentions a "secret office." That's hardly unexpected, as this house is full of surprises.
