Construction Begins on 432 New SoMa Apartments

New, 3 comments

The long lot at 855 Brannan Street that runs between 7th and 8th streets has officially been cleared and construction is kicking off on what will eventually be 432 new apartments around the corner from Showplace Square. The project comes from developer Equity Residential and architect David Baker, the same team that is building another 453 apartments a ten-minute walk away at 7th and 16th streets. When 855 Brannan is complete, it will have a large courtyard with a redwood grove open to the public and a planned food marketplace along its mews.

The complex will be a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, with a few additional three-bedrooms and flex residential lofts. It will hold 422 parking spaces and will also offer a rooftop deck to its residents. It will also sit in the heart of tech-y SoMa, near companies like Airbnb at 888 Brannan, Pinterest, and Zynga. The building is scheduled to open to its new residents sometime in the spring of 2017.
