The first panel of the 4,486 that will eventually make up the skin of the new Transbay Transit Center is now hanging on a forklift in front of its future home. Next, architects at Pelli Clarke Pell will connect 18 of the panels to check out how they look together before giving the green light for a full set to be created. The panels will be made of perforated metal and covered in paint. [SF Chronicle]
