Sinkhole the Size of a Car Opens Up in the Outer Sunset

New, 1 comment

Last night a sinkhole almost the size of a car (but maybe as big as a Smart car, we'd wager) yawned open in the Outer Sunset, near the intersection of 38th Avenue and Ortega Street, the San Francisco Examiner reports. A passerby called 911, and thankfully no one was injured, a police officer from the SFPD's Taraval Station confirmed to the Examiner. Elsewhere in the Sunset, a persistent sinkhole on Quintara Street, between 18th and 19th avenues, has been plaguing residents as far back as last August, owing to a cracked sewer line underneath the street. No explanation has yet come out for this latest sinkhole, but so far, at least, no one has yet listed it on Craigslist for rent.
