Freedom of Art

A new public art installation called Nuestros Silencios (Our Silences) will go on view today at Harry Bridges Plaza, the traffic median that runs along the Embarcadero in front of the Ferry Building. The work, by Mexican-born artist Jose Rivelino Moreno Valle, includes 10 bronze figures and a cubic sculpture made out of iron. Rivelino's installation addresses themes of freedom of expression and the importance of speaking out, and runs in conjunction with the Mex I Am festival. It will remain on view through October 15.
