Glittery Goodbyes

Bay Area glitter artist René Garcia Jr., best known for his large-scale paintings made out of glitter, died last week. Garcia's most notable pieces were created with Elmer's glue and glitter shakers and featured subjects as diverse as motorcycle-riding women and lions on beaches. A retrospective of Garcia's work will be held in San Francisco late this summer. [KQED Arts]
