Water Wars

New, 1 comment

Californians may have fought off Starbucks, which is electing to stop bottling its Ethos water in Merced, but now Mount Shasta residents are furious that this fall, Crystal Geyser will begin tapping thousands of gallons per day from an aquifer that supplies the Sacramento River, a main source of drinking water for millions of people. The state is pretty much powerless to stop the operation, since bottling groundwater is perfectly legal. Crystal Geyser will presumably be glad to sell the newly shrinkwrapped water back to Mount Shasta residents for what is sure to be a fair-market price. [Previously; SFGate]
