Swimming pools may be a common feature of luxury homes in many parts of the United States, but in San Francisco they are few and far between. The big four-bedroom, three-point-five-bath house at 11 San Jacinto Way in St. Francis Wood, however, features a huge rectangular heated outdoor swimming pool in its backyard. The pool, which also includes a hot tub, is surrounded by greenery and a lawn and feels like it belongs in a suburban backyard somewhere. Equally surprising is the house itself, which is set on a perch among tall trees and was designed for its current owners back in 1982 by architect Jerry Taylor. It is described in the brokerbabble as a "French Style Villa with English influence." The home just hit the market for the first time ever asking $6.25 million.
Many of the home's interior spaces are very nice, if not quite as dramatic as the backyard or exterior. A big, sweeping staircase is the focal point of the lower level, where there are also numerous fireplaces and a warm, oak-paneled library. Upstairs, things feel a little more dated. Thick white carpeting lines the bedrooms and master bathroom, which also boasts a gold-accented spa bath sitting right next to two huge closets. There are also views out to the Pacific that, while lovely, are a reminder that the backyard pool may be shrouded in fog many days out of the year.
