The appearance of a new coworking space in Chinatown has stirred up fears of gentrification in a neighborhood that traditionally has not felt much encroachment from San Francisco's tech boom. The new space, 1920C, occupies 4,000 square feet above the Grand Palace restaurant at 950 Grant, and leaders of the Chinatown Community Development Center believe the group has illegally converted retail and public-serving spaces to tech offices. The main tenant is a digital yoga platform (a thing), but other, nontech tenants include an education nonprofit, and cofounder Jenny Chan says 1920C is open to workers from all sectors. [SF Examiner]
