The recently adopted short-term rental ordinance—otherwise known as the Airbnb law—could already be getting some changes. Supervisor Mark Farrell requested a hearing yesterday to consider allocating funds for the Planning Department to enforce the law. Planning staff also raised the idea of closing loopholes that allow short-term rental sites to list rentals that are not certified by the city. So far, only 60 San Francisco residents have received registration numbers, which are now required to be included in online listings. Thousands of other listings in the city remain illegal.
