Today Supervisors Jane Kim and David Campos will introduce legislation that would place further limits on short-term rentals in San Francisco. The law that went into effect February 1 already puts a 90-day-per-year cap on rentals where the occupant isn't present, but the law is essentially unenforceable, according to the Planning Department. Campos and Kim's new legislation would limit all hosts to renting a maximum of 90 days per year and would fine short-term rental sites like Airbnb $1,000 a day for listing properties that are not registered with the city.
