"I agree that we need more towers and density but I wouldn't posit Vancouver as the model. There's a reason most of San Francisco has such a high 'walk score' and those areas of Vancouver don't. A continuous retail street wall is what makes the difference so that the walking distance to everything residents of a neighborhood need and want is as short as possible and that walk is constantly interesting.

"Parks and green space are fine, but not between and surrounding every residential building. Dolores Park or Duboce Park are fine examples.
