Even when affordable housing units get built in San Francisco, they typically cost more than $469,000 each, by conservative estimates. So what if Oakland could build some of San Francisco's required inclusionary units? That's an idea recently floated by Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf and chief of staff Tomiquia Moss, in effort to emphasize the need to take a regional approach in addressing the housing crisis. So far, though, the idea is just that: an idea. [SPUR; SFGate]
