The saga of the Coit Tower refreshments kiosk deepened yesterday as Telegraph Hill residents rallied against the idea of locating the kiosk on the tower's east side. The stand, which would measure all of 10 feet square, has stirred debate over many rounds of meetings, at which residents have raised concerns over sidewalk availability and wondered at the necessity of food at all, given that "no one is going to starve or die of thirst on Coit Tower." In a boon for blood-sugar levels, neighbors did not object to placing the kiosk on the west side of the parking lot, so that's looking pretty promising. [SF Examiner; SFGate]
