San Francisco artist and graphic designer Rex Ray died yesterday after battling cancer. Ray was known for his 1960s-inspired paintings, which were often psychedelic and filled with bright colors. He showed work at SFMOMA, the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, and the San Jose Museum of Art. Ray also designed concert posters for the likes of the Rolling Stones, U2, REM, and Radiohead. [SFist]
