The Super Bowl's Fan Village will be set up at the very tip of Market Street from January 30 through the first week of February, and nearby Sue Bierman Park on the Embarcadero just got the go-ahead to join the fray with live performances during the same time period. The park will have a stage hosting musicians during the day and most evenings, according to Hoodline. All of the performances will be free and open to the public.
Performers will be announced in January, and there will be a mix of local musicians, bigger acts, and some nonprofit groups. New details on activities for Super Bowl City at Justin Herman Plaza also were revealed in the application for Sue Bierman Park. There will be a virtual reality quarterback challenge, a mock football field, a zip line, and an NFL social media center. The Super Bowl Host Committee has been meeting with neighbors and promises that noise will be minimized, but it's hard to imagine this event being quiet.
