Live Like a Victorian in Pacific Heights for $11,500 Per Month

New, 1 comment

It may not be cheap, but the stately three-bedroom Victorian currently listed on Craigslist for $11,500 per month certainly is special. The home was built way back in 1882 and is filled with carved fireplaces, ceiling medallions, and ornate light fixtures. Any interested tenants must be lovers of old-fashioned style, because this place comes decked out with heavy drapery, chintz-covered furniture, and oriental rugs, all of which come with the rental. There's a huge dining room complete with a piano and a large table for formal dinners, and a glass-enclosed solarium at the back. The landlords must be okay with renters throwing parties given that the listing calls the place an "entertainers' dream."

The master bedroom is huge but a bit overwhelming with its pink-and-green flowered carpet and green curtains surrounding floor-to-ceiling windows. Each of the three bedrooms has its own fireplace. Out back, there's a small gazebo-like structure that feels almost like a tropical cabana set among the garden. This rental is clearly targeting families, but at less than $4,000 per bedroom it seems like sharing it with friends may be a better option than paying top dollar for one of San Francisco's average one-bedrooms—if, of course, chintz is your thing.
