What $5,500/Month Rents You in San Francisco

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various San Francisco neighborhoods. Is one person's studio another person's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $5,500.

↑ This two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is in 100 Van Ness, a new Civic Center building very close to City Hall. For $5,400/month, you get luxe features in public and private spaces. There's a shared library, rooftop lounge, fire pit, fitness center, and underground parking garage. Inside the unit you'll find hardwood floors, walnut cabinets, a dishwasher, washer/dryer, and custom blinds. A central location puts it close to Muni and BART stops, as well as restaurants, bars, and shopping. It's billed as a pet-friendly community, so your animals can move in too.

↑ In SoMa, $5,195/month provides a three-bedroom, two-bath unit with a large balcony that overlooks some nice city views. It's in a 50-foot-tall building called GlasDore Lofts, and this unit has large windows as well as the balcony. It also has radiant heat, a washer/dryer in the unit, and parking (personal, guest, and bike). Small dogs and cats are permitted. This is another building kitted out with a rooftop lounge and fitness center.

↑ In the Sunset, you can get a three-bedroom, three-bathroom single family home for $5,500/month. This place has pretty hardwood floors throughout, a new-looking kitchen, a two-car garage, a paved backyard, and a washer and dryer. No word on pets.

↑ Since this two-bedroom, two-bath apartment is located on the Wiggle, it's bound to appeal to cyclists. The $5,400/month unit is also close to Duboce Triangle. Located in a Victorian building, it's full of vintage charm and period details: hardwood floors, classic O'Keefe & Merritt stove, high ceilings, and ornate moldings. There's also modern features such as a pot filler, deck, and (negotiable) parking for one car. The listing says that the unit was recently remodeled and calls it a "2+ bedroom," so perhaps there's room for a third sleeping area. No mention of a pet policy.
