Playland Proposed

Plans to transform a shuttered Sunset school annex into a recreation area called Playland at 43rd Avenue have neighbors divided. The name of the complex was chosen as an homage to Playland-at-the-Beach, an amusement park that stood at Ocean Beach until 1972. The new Playland would hold a community garden, playgrounds, an artist's courtyard, an adult fitness area, and a skate park. Neighbors are worried about the noise from the skate park element and potential live concerts. [SFGate]
