Buy an Iconic Mission Mural (Plus a Big Property) for $5M

New, 2 comments

Since 2007, the building that stands at the corner of Bryant and 25th streets has been covered by a bright, dramatic mural known as "Be the Change You Wish to See In the World." The mural was painted by Susan Cervantes and students who were part of a Precita Eyes Community Mural Workshop. The building's colorful exterior gives little indication of what is behind its doors, but it turns out that there is a lot. Upstairs there is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom living space plus a loft, and the bottom level has two renovated suites, an office, a workshop, and two garages with room for at least four cars. The whole thing is currently on the market for $5 million.

In the past, the building has been a warehouse and a handball club, and it is still zoned for commercial use. Most of it, however, is now dedicated to living space. Downstairs there is a huge one-bedroom suite and a smaller studio suite, while upstairs the primary living space is open plan with high ceilings, interior wood siding, and exposed beams. The space is definitely flexible, but it will need to find a buyer who wants to pay a big price for an unconventional layout.
