On Thursday the US Olympic Committee will decide which US city will pursue the bid to host the 2024 Olympics. SF—or, more accurately, Brisbane and Berkeley and Marin and SF—is up against Los Angeles, Boston, and Washington, D.C. Officials have estimated the cost of a Bay Area Olympics overall at $4.7 billion. The International Olympic Committee's final choice of host city won't be reached until 2017, but the opening-ceremony fireworks have already been canceled on account of fog.
