Developers are showing an interest in buying and redeveloping the Civic Center Hotel, one of Mid-Market's most notorious SROs. The building is regularly a site of violence and drugs; police were called to the hotel 51 times between last July and the beginning of 2015. However, it is also at the center of Mid-Market's development boomlet and is zoned for high-rise construction. Any interested developer would be required to rehouse its low-income residents somewhere else in the city. [SF Examiner]
