A $3,000 drone owned by San Francisco's Rec & Parks department has been stolen, and the department's plans to begin using drones for park monitoring have been put on hold. The quadcopter was in an employee's car parked in Golden Gate Park when it was taken around 6 a.m. Rec & Parks planned to try out the drones to assess both trees and needs for maintenance or repairs in parks, but have asked employees to not to move forward until there are policies put in place for their use.
