Newly elected Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf has been tooling around town in a fire-breathing snail car like it's no big thing. The mollusk-mobile, fashioned by local artists Jon Sarriugarte and Kyrsten Mate from a 1966 VW bug, began its life as a Burning Man art car. Sarriugarte, a Schaaf supporter, began bringing it to campaign events, and before her inauguration, Schaaf went joyriding around the Paramount Theater. SF Mag has more on the vehicle's origin.
