Yesterday Supervisor Jane Kim introduced legislation requiring Planning to keep track of how much new housing development will be designated affordable and how much will be market rate. The law lays out the details of how the city's goal—passed last November as Proposition K—of creating about 10,000 new affordable housing units by 2020 will be monitored. The measure would also require Planning to better track the disappearance of rent-controlled and affordable housing from the market. [SFGate/Photo via Bruce Damonte]
