The Hearst Corporation has filed an appeal to dismantle the new Annie Alley plaza, a thoroughfare for gatherings and events that recently closed to car traffic. Although the Hearst Corporation was involved in planning the temporary plaza, which opened in November, the company has asked for it to be removed so that cars exiting the company's parking garage can have a more direct route to Mission Street. A hearing is set for February 11, although the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District, the main backer of the plaza, hopes a resolution will be reached sooner. [Streetsblog SF; previously]
