Having heard our pleas over the lack of overnight BART service, BART is doing the logical thing and looking at launching a test program to expand, wait for it, transbay bus service in the wee hours. Currently, the only way to cross the bay after BART shuts down is by taking one of AC Transit's extremely spotty All Nighter buses to Richmond, Fremont, or San Mateo County. The $800,000 pilot, which could begin in December, will route buses between the BART stations in San Francisco and the East Bay. [SFGate]
