The Kittehs

Despite the recent strides made by Hayes Valley's forthcoming cat café, KitTea, Oakland is nonetheless winning the arms race to open the Bay Area's first kitties-'n'-hot-beverages emporium. Oakland's Cat Town—which, like KitTea, will showcase adoptable kitties in need of homes—will debut on October 25, two months ahead of KitTea's soft (and presumably fluffy) opening in December. Cat Town cofounder Ann Dunn tells SF Weekly that the two cafés have a friendly relationship, helped along by different niches: "We're all about coffee, and they're all about tea."
