To mark the 50th anniversary of the term "gentrification," Curbed National takes a look at the concept through the lens of The Real World, a pop culture menhir that has thus far banked no less than 30 seasons by injecting strangers into urban grit. In a quest to commodify the "realness" of post industrial neighborhoods, the producers of The Real World consumed them, replicated them, and then souvenirized them, occupying spaces as diverse as a graffiti'd loft in NYC to a former billiards room in Denver.
