Presidio-Elect Barracks-O-Rama

The Presidio Trust will convert a former barracks from 1895 into 40-room hotel, its second in the park. The three-story, 42,000-square-foot structure on Infantry Row has been flagged as a potential hotel for years, and in May the trust's board waved through a $20 million budget for the renovation. A request for proposals from architecture firms will be forthcoming, with a target opening date in mid-2016. It's too soon for rates, of course, but the idea is to offer something less expensive than the popular Inn at the Presidio, where rooms start at $250 per night. [SF Examiner]
