Let's Make a Deal

Developers of downtown towers in the Transbay neighborhood have worked out a deal with the city after threatening to sue over a proposed tax district aiming to bring in $1.4 billion for the extension of Caltrain to the Transbay Transit Center. The agreement reached yesterday will still raise $1.4 billion but will do so over 37 years instead of the 30 originally suggested. Developers have said that they won't sue over the new terms and the Board of Supervisors will vote on the new agreement in two weeks. [SFGate; previously]
